Call your U.S. senators now: We need a COVID-19 relief bill.
Friend –
Congress has broken for recess without passing the COVID-19 relief package America needs. As they take a break, our right to safely vote this November is severely in danger, we're on the brink of a wave of mass evictions come the first of the month, millions are still excluded from COVID-related care – particularly our immigrant communities, and countless vulnerable people remain needlessly crowded in prisons and jails.
Inaction right now is unacceptable. We're telling Congress to get back to work, and we're starting with the Senate. We need your help to make calls so they have no choice but to listen to us. Text "BACK2WORK" to 82623 to begin or call 1-844-889-3222 now. (Text STOP to quit. Msg&Data rates may apply.)
Once connected, introduce yourself to the congressional staffer who answers – or if no one answers, leave a message – and say: Hi, my name is [SAY YOUR NAME] and my zip code is [YOUR ZIP]. As a constituent, I'm demanding Congress return from recess and pass COVID-19 relief that will:
1. Mandate and provide funding for no-excuse absentee mail-in voting and early voting, including operational and financial support for the USPS
2. Expand release to home confinement for people in prisons and jails most vulnerable to COVID-19 – those who are pregnant, elderly, or with underlying health conditions
3. Extend and expand the federal eviction moratorium and provide funding for emergency rental assistance
4. Ensure universal access to COVID-19 testing and treatment for everyone, regardless of immigration status
And then you're done, ACLU Supporter. There's too much on the line to wait. So please, call 1-844-889-3222 to get on the line with your senators now – and, together, we can make sure they do their job.
