Friend,
Growing up in a rural area, I never once doubted the importance of the United States Postal Service. It provides jobs for our community members, opportunities to keep rural residents connected, and, for many, the ability to vote.
For me, though, the post office holds a special significance: My grandmother helped organize the first Postal Workers Union in House Springs, Missouri.

I learned so much from my grandmother: the power of unity, of bringing people together to do what’s right—and how to stand up and fight for what you believe in even when the odds are stacked against you.
The vital role that the USPS plays in rural life is ingrained in me, and in the history of my family and my community. Grandma Ellis never imagined that we would be in the situation we are in now, with the Postal Service being intentionally sabotaged by our president and its decline enabled by the GOP in Congress. And she never would’ve thought that her granddaughter would be fighting for the survival of the USPS as a candidate for Congress.
This attack on the USPS is unprecedented, and extremely dangerous. I hope you will join me in pressuring Congress—especially the Republican Senate, which has already adjourned until September without addressing the coronavirus and the USPS crisis—and President Trump to provide greater funding and to ensure that the Postal Service can process ballot delivery on time for every single American that chooses to vote by mail or absentee.

Reliable mail delivery is non-negotiable, and absolutely critical to the most important election of our lifetime. Stand up and fight with me—Grandma Ellis would be proud.
