Parent Center AI Tool Will Help Families Navigate the Digital World with Confidence

“My 16-year-old son got scammed. We’ve had all the talks about online safety, but it still happened.”

“How do you have a respectful conversation about privacy and boundaries with a teenager? We want to be firm but fair, and could really use some advice.”

“How are we supposed to keep our kids safe when the tech doesn’t even give us the tools?”

These are all from parents who wrote to NCOSE, pleading for help to protect their kids from the Internet’s harms.

This struggle so many parents face is why the NCOSE Parent Center exists.

We’re here to guide parents on their journey to manage tech in their families. We’re here to build a community that stands together to protects children.

And now, we are combatting the harms of technology by using it for good. This week, we launched the

Parent Center AI Tool: an AI chatbot that is trained on specially curated, trusted sources, with the goal of helping parents keep their kids safe online!

Meta Introduces "Incognito" AI Chat & Disappearing Photo Messages

Just when we thought Meta couldn't get any worse ... they're happy to prove us wrong.

Meta is rolling out two new products that will predictably exacerbate the already grave dangers on their platforms.

The first is

"Instants,"

a disappearing photo messaging feature that integrates with Instagram. "Instants" is

highly reminiscent of Snapchat's ephemeral messaging

,

which is widely acknowledged to have been designed for sexting

. Years of experience have shown that these disappearing messages create a ripe ground for sexual exploitation.

The second new feature is an

"Incognito" AI chatbot.

This works similarly to end-to-end encryption, ensuring that users' chat with the AI bot is entirely private and no log is kept. The problem is:

AI chatbots have already killed children.

Encrypting these chats just makes it more difficult for parents to discover alarming chats, and for Meta to be held accountable when their AI bot causes harm.

Meta's lack of social responsibility is, frankly, astonishing.

Rather than solving the known harms on their existing platforms, they repeatedly choose to roll out

even more dangerous products

, year after year.

That pattern is exactly why we placed Mark Zuckerberg on this year's

Dirty Dozen List!

SWIPE FRIGHT Inside disturbing world of ‘Tinder for teens’ apps with predators free to groom, abuse & extort children as young as 11

With names like Wizz, Purp, and Whipd, these innocent‑sounding apps, where children can connect with friends, might not initially ring alarm bells.

But take a closer look, and parents will discover the chilling world of

“friend-making” phone apps being dubbed “Tinder for teens”

...

Executive Director of the National Centre on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) Haley McNamara said ...

that the apps created

“direct pathways for grooming, abuse, and sextortion”.

She continues: “The importance is

they should just not be connecting minors with strangers on the app as a premise.

“It’s an unsafe premise. So that’s, at the end of the day, the problem.”

X: A Safe Harbor for Abusers. A Nightmare for Survivors.

X has become the

front page for sexual abuse online

, amplifying exploitation instead of preventing it.

Not only did the platform decide to take

“no action” on child sexual abuse material

, but it continues to facilitate child abuse, image-based sexual abuse, AI deepfake pornography, prostitution / sex trafficking, and more. Its policies and lack of enforcement make X a safe harbor for abusers and a nightmare for survivors.
