Every day brings another reminder that MAGA Republicans are driving this country backward and taking their cues from the very worst voice in politics. When asked about the latest push to gerrymander the midterms, Trump bragged “It has been a wonderful process,” before calling us “Dumbocrats.” Every accusation is an admission. This is the villain Louisiana Republicans are following. And what has that brought us? A Supreme Court decision gutting the Voting Rights Act, the erasure of elected Black representation, and now an attack on a Black-majority district to rig the game and hold the House for their wannabe king. This is the state that gave us Mike Johnson, who never seems to know what terrible thing just came out of his boss’s mouth. And it gave us Senator John Kennedy, who can’t seem to keep track of what comes out of his own mouth. So how does one of the most diverse states in the country keep producing politicians and policies hell-bent on destroying equality for people of color? We perish from a lack of faith and funding. Louisiana has been shrugged off as some lost cause, the "juice ain't worth the squeeze," "bad investment for the DNC," and our progressive party has been left with two cents to rub together to fight the biggest MAGA monsters we’ve ever seen. Those days are over. Our campaign has amassed an army of donors from Ferriday, Louisiana, to Fairbanks, Alaska, who know that Louisiana has a fighting chance to turn the tide on the MAGA Swamp we are swimming in. While our numbers may not compare to what Elon Musk might drop to steamroll democracy, the people we have down here are resilient fighters, and at the end of the day, we outnumber them — and they only outmoney and outcorrupt us.
