When Sarah Lerner started teaching 24 years ago, she never imagined she
would have to risk her life for her classroom. But on February 14, 2018,
at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, that became her reality.

Today, Sarah is a survivor and a co-founder of Teachers Unify to End Gun
Violence. She knows better than anyone the trauma that gun violence leaves
behind — yet eight years after Parkland, Florida’s leadership is still
moving in the wrong direction.

Let’s be clear: these aren’t safety measures. They are dangerous policies
that put even more unsecured weapons into our schools.

At March For Our Lives, we were founded in the wake of the Parkland
shooting to say "Never Again". Since then, we’ve pushed the federal
government to create the first-ever Office of Gun Violence Prevention and
passed the first major federal gun safety legislation in decades.

But in Florida, the fight is more urgent than ever. While we deal with a
governor who continues to prioritize the gun lobby over students, we are
ready to organize, disrupt, and win.
