Dear John,
We are in the home stretch!! Today is 25 days until the June 9th primary. Early voting has begun and we have been talking to voters all over Maine who are making up their minds. And we are feeling very positive! We can win this highly competitive race – with your help in these crucial upcoming days.
New polling just came out that shows us gaining momentum at just the right time and here’s what it says: our name recognition, favorability, and support have all surged in the last few months as voters learn more about our campaign.
Polling shows we are in a strong second place position in the first rounds of ranked choice voting and on the informed ballot, as voters learn more about my record and plans, our numbers jump dramatically and we are within striking distance of winning this race.
While I’ve been on the road more often than home, the crowds and energy we’ve seen on our Next Chapter Town Hall & Happy Hour Tour make every mile worth it. We have had three televised debates that all went well and just a few weeks ago at the Maine Democratic Party Convention, I was reminded just how fired up Democrats are and how much is at stake in this race. We are ready to go!
My team and I are working non-stop to reach as many voters as possible in the coming weeks and days – and here is a reminder of the things you can do in the coming days to help us win:
-
Vote early! And rank us #1 and tell your friends about it however you can.
-
Volunteer - we are knocking on doors and making calls nearly every day, come join us!
-
Donate - keep us on the airwaves and keep our team going to finish strong!
-
Write a letter to the editor or post about your support on social media
-
Put up a yard sign or purchase Hannah for Gov gear
-
Spread the word with your friends and neighbors.
Town Hall Tour!
When I said I’ve been on the road, I wasn’t kidding. We kicked off our Maine’s Next Chapter Tour in Bar Harbor in April and have been going nonstop ever since from Eastport to Kittery. It is a great way to meet new voters and spread the word but, we need you and your friends and your family and your neighbors who haven’t met us to join us. New events are being added every week, so please visit our website to find a town hall or happy hour near you.
Here are a few of our upcoming events:
- Friday, May 15th: Lewiston Happy Hour
- Saturday, May 16th: Oxford County Town Hall
- Saturday, May 16th: Farmington Coffee
- Tuesday, May 19th: Gorham Town Hall
- Wednesday, May 20th: Biddeford Town Hall
- Thursday, May 21st: Belfast Meet & Greet
- Thursday, May 21st: Belfast Town Hall
- Wednesday, May 27th: North Yarmouth Meet & Greet
- Wednesday, May 27th: Brunswick Town Hall
- Sunday, May 31st: Peaks Island Meet & Greet
- Sunday, June 7th: Rockport Rally
GO VOTE!
Again, in-person absentee voting began in Maine this Monday, which means in simple terms: YOU CAN GO VOTE! The Maine Democratic Party has great resources about how to vote that you can find here. It’s also still not too late to request your absentee ballot if you want it sent to your home. You can then either mail it back to your town clerk or drop it off in person.
And while I understand that great feeling that comes with going to the polls on Election Day, I promise you it's equally rewarding volunteering on GOTV efforts. So just take care of it early!
We have also put out two fun videos about early voting, reminding Mainers that unenrolled voters can vote in the primaries in Maine, and a fun M&Ms explainer on ranked choice voting. Check them out on Facebook and Instagram and share with friends.
Come Canvass with Me!
Nothing beats knocking on doors — and this spring I've been doing a lot of it. This past weekend I was in South Portland and Damariscotta (my mom joined me on Mother's Day, which made it pretty special. Payback for the 1000 doors I knocked for her when I was 14!!!). Here's where we're headed next:
-
Weekly Wednesday Phonebanks - Wednesdays, 4-6pm
-
Weekly Portland Canvasses - Thursdays, 3:30-6pm, and Sundays, 12-3pm
-
Rockland Canvass - Saturday, May 16, 9:30am-12pm
-
Hallowell Canvass - Sunday, May 17, 12:30-3:30pm
-
Belfast Canvas with HD 39 Candidate Madison Cook - Thursday, May 21, 1:30-4:00pm
-
Weekend of Action Canvasses - Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24 - York, Yarmouth, Thomaston, and Scarborough
Watch Our New Ad
I am so proud of the people behind this campaign — and now I get to show them off. Our second TV ad just launched, and instead of hearing from me, you'll hear from some of the Mainers who have been with us from the start.
Check out “Gets Things Done” and if you like it as much as I do, pitch in here to help us keep this on the air through June 9.
Recent Endorsements
It’s been a couple of big weeks for endorsements, so I want to share a few that mean a lot to me personally. First, Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey endorsed our campaign. Aaron has been in court fighting the Trump Administration more than 30 times to protect Maine people and having someone with that kind of backbone in our corner feels right for this moment.
Then the Maine High School Democrats came through ranking me as their #1 candidate. My daughter Elsie is in high school and I love high school students a whole lot so this one was a real badge of honor! Mom’s Demand Action also recently recognized me as a Gun Sense Candidate, a nice nod to my work and commitment to pass common sense gun laws.
And when the Sierra Club of Maine announced they were endorsing me alongside two of my fellow candidates, I did what I always do — picked up the phone and tried to make something out of it. We organized a joint press conference together, which felt like the right way to celebrate and highlights that ranked choice voting makes for a much friendlier election.
Good things are better shared!
Share a POST!
Admittedly, I am biased, but I think we’ve got the best social media game in town. The only thing lacking is more people commenting and sharing. Here are a few I’m pretty fond of. If you are too, be sure to share them!
Every day we are feeling greater and greater momentum as we race towards June 9! Now is the moment to give it our all to win this campaign. There’s a place for all of you on this campaign, so please come out and join us where and when you can, donate, and tell your friends!
See you out there!
Best,
Hannah
