Dear john, This week, my Congressional Black Caucus colleagues and I spoke from the House floor about what redistricting after the Louisiana v. Callais decision means for communities across America. The fight for voting rights did not begin with this court, and it will not end with this decision. Our democracy is strongest when everyone has a seat at the table, and I intend to carry on in our fight to build a democracy that is more just and representative of all our people. | In the House Education and Workforce Committee this week, Education Secretary Linda McMahon appeared for testimony. I challenged her to defend the cuts to essential education programs, including the Charting My Path Forward program, which served students with disabilities. The abrupt cancellation of this program has real impacts on students and teachers, and I am going to continue holding Administration officials accountable for the decisions that have negatively impacted students and their families. You can view our full exchange below: | On Thursday night, I joined my colleague Rep. Tim Kennedy in commemorating the painful anniversary of the Tops Supermarket shooting in Buffalo. My heart remains with the families impacted by every senseless gun tragedy in America, because nobody should be subjected to violence as they go about their daily lives. Weapons of war do not belong on our streets, in our churches, in our schools, or in our grocery stores. An assault weapons ban is proven to prevent these kinds of tragedies, and it is past time that we renew this ban and pass my GOSAFE Act to save lives. | Thank you for taking the time to stay up-to-date. It is my honor to serve Georgia. If you or someone you know is in need of federal assistance, please contact my office. | Rep.
