Dear John,

With yesterday’s U.S. Supreme Court decision, we are relieved that people across the country can continue to access medication abortion through telehealth.

But relief is not the same as justice. The stress this type of litigation creates is real, and it falls hardest on people who already face the most barriers to care.

Now is a time to remember that the courts did not provide this relief on their own. It came because communities organized, advocates fought, and people refused to be silenced.

The majority of people in the United States support access to medication abortion, and that’s a reflection of what people know to be true about their own lives—and the future they want for themselves and their families.

Today we breathe. Tomorrow, we’ll keep building. To every person navigating this and feeling the full range of emotions it provokes: You are not alone.

Around the world, a global movement is working—alongside local and national advocates, health-care providers, and communities—to build and sustain an ecosystem of abortion care that no court can dismantle. Ipas has long been a leader in that global movement, and with you and our U.S. partners by our side, we’ll keep fighting here in the United States for a future with bodily autonomy for all.

In solidarity,

Maria Elena
