Dear John,

In politics, a week is a long time.

And this week will be longer than usual.

The final round of trade negotiations with the EU has begun this week.

Without a proper deal with our nearest and largest trade partner, Britain will be in a vulnerable position.

We will be forced into a rushed deal with countries like the USA, where food and agricultural standards are much lower

Sign our petition to uphold world-class food standards today - for British farmers and British families. Sign now.

Agricultural standards are about so much more than food.

The UK has much more comprehensive laws on how animals should be treated and farmed. In Australia, a nation with which the UK hopes to make a deal, allows inhumane treatment of livestock banned here.

Without a ‘level playing-field’ with Europe which upholds our current standards, we will have no protection against substandard products making their way onto our shelves. And there will be no way we can ensure our farmers are protected. So please, sign the petition to uphold high food and farming standards.

Right now the UK is deciding who we trade with, and what we are willing to negotiate. Will we compromise our food, and our health, to trade with the USA? Or will we strike a deal with Europe, and ensure the quality of our food remains high?

It’s up to us to make that decision.

Best wishes,

Laura Savage,
Campaigns Officer
