The Preakness Stakes is tomorrow. Here’s why it matters.
Friend,
Tomorrow, thousands of people will gather for the Preakness Stakes. It’s one of the renowned Triple Crown races and draws over 100,000 spectators every year. But as spectators travel from across the country to this highly anticipated event, there are horses who are traveling towards a less celebrated fate.
Every year, thousands of American horses are crammed into unsafe trailers with no food, no water and no rest. They travel hundreds of miles, taken away from everything they’ve known and brought to Canada or Mexico where they’re brutally slaughtered for their meat.
We’re fighting to shut down the horse slaughter pipeline for good, but we can’t do it without your support, friend. Will you help Humane World Action Fund, formerly Humane Society Legislative Fund, fight for horses and all animals who can’t fight for themselves by making a donation of $20 or more now?

Racehorses who don’t win the spotlight. Working horses deemed too old to work. All of these horses could thrive in animal sanctuaries or in loving homes, if only they got the chance. Thousands of horses per year are targeted by kill buyers and sent to slaughter, suffering needless and brutal deaths. They deserve better than being discarded.
We’re pushing to pass the Save America’s Forgotten Equines (SAFE) Act to permanently close horse slaughterhouses in the United States and protect vulnerable horses in the U.S. from being transported overseas and killed for their meat. You can help us stand up to the horse slaughter industry and stop shady kill buyers from cutting animals’ lives short. Please: Make a donation of $20 or more to Humane World Action Fund now to permanently end horse slaughter and protect all animals from harm. [[link removed]
