Neghat
A message from Council Leader, Councillor Neghat Khan
This week we took another major step forward in delivering for Nottingham residents.
At Executive Board, we approved further investment proposals backing young people, families, communities and local businesses across our city building on the investments already announced in areas like free swimming, bulky waste collections and school uniform support.
Thanks to the Government, we have additional funding for long term support through a new £21.2 million Crisis and Resilience Fund [ [link removed] ] to help residents and families facing financial hardship and strengthen community support across Nottingham. Last week, I had a very positive meeting with the Showmen’s Guild where we’ve agreed to continue the world-famous Nottingham Goose Fair for 10 days. Whilst this is a memorable date in our calendar, I recognise that it does have an impact on surrounding area, so keep an eye out for future announcements on how we intend to support the surrounding area.
Finally, Notts County host Chesterfield tonight in the second leg of the playoff semi-final, which they’re leading 1-0. We’re right behind you, we know you can do this and good luck!

£21m fund launched to support Nottingham residents
£21m fund launched to support Nottingham residents
Nottingham City Council has launched a new £21.2 million Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) to support residents facing financial hardship while helping communities become more resilient.
Running until March 2029, the programme will deliver around £7 million a year to provide crisis payments, housing support, financial resilience services and community-led support.
A key part of the fund is a new community grants scheme, giving charities and grassroots organisations the opportunity to deliver targeted support in neighbourhoods across the city.
Replacing the previous Household Support Fund, the CRF will continue to offer immediate help in times of crisis, while also investing in longer-term support to prevent people from falling into hardship.
Applications open 26 May.

Travel Well pop-up
Embankment to host city's first travel 'pop-up'
Residents will soon be able to enjoy a free programme of active travel activities at the city’s first pop-up mobility hub.
The temporary transport hub at Victoria Embankment is being installed and operated by national shared transport charity Collaborative Mobility UK (CoMoUK).
It will act as a base for a series of active travel activities, encouraging local residents to walk, wheel or cycle more for local journeys, rather than relying on private cars.
There will also be a special emphasis on helping those not in work, education or training to access low-cost travel options.
The mobility hub will remain in place on the bank of the River Trent for six weeks from Tuesday (May 19), before being moved to different parts of the city over the course of the summer.
