The U.S. Supreme Court just ruled that people can keep getting mifepristone by mail and at their local pharmacy—for now.

Here's what happened: Earlier this month, the Fifth Circuit sided with Louisiana and reinstated a medically unnecessary requirement that mifepristone be dispensed in person, threatening access by mail and at pharmacies nationwide. Medication abortion accounts for more than 60% of abortions in the U.S. each year. More than 7.5 million people have used mifepristone safely. Hundreds of studies back it. Restricting it is not about safety—it's about making abortion as difficult, expensive, and unreachable as possible.

The people hit hardest: those with low incomes. People in rural areas, hours from the nearest clinic. People with disabilities. People escaping domestic violence.
