There are few moments in our nation's history that demand clearer leadership than right now.
Tonight, I outlined my vision for a fairer, freer, and better Australia.
This starts by fighting back against the assault on aspiration at the heart of Labor’s Budget of broken promises.
Labor is locking out young Australians from opportunities afforded to older Australians, by whacking higher taxes on housing, savings, investments and small businesses.
We will fight tooth and nail to stop these taxes becoming law. If they do, we will repeal them.
In my Budget in Reply, I set out the Coalition’s plan to restore Australians’ standard of living and protect our way of life.
To clean up Labor's mess and build an Australia where everyone can get ahead.
We will stop inflation pushing Australians into higher tax brackets.
Under Labor, people pay more tax even when their wages only rise to keep up with prices.
This is a stealth raid on Australians working hard to get ahead.
From 2028-29, we will index the bottom two income tax thresholds to inflation.
From 2031-32, all thresholds will be indexed, so Australians are not taxed more simply because of inflation.
We will deliver more homes for Australians by cutting migration.
Labor has already brought in 1.4 million people – equivalent to the population of Adelaide and far more people than Australia has built homes for.
We will cap immigration based on the number of homes built each year, so migration never again runs ahead of housing supply.
And we will unlock 400,000 homes by supporting infrastructure like roads, water, power and sewerage needed to get housing projects moving.
We will bring down debt and save for the future.
When resource revenues are higher than forecast – as has been the case under Labor – we will bank 80 cents in every dollar into a Future Generations Fund to help pay down debt and invest in nation-building infrastructure.
We will end welfare for non-citizens.
A Coalition government will reserve the NDIS and 17 welfare programs — including JobSeeker, Youth Allowance and Family Tax Benefit — for Australians only.
If you commit to Australia, Australia will commit to you.
These policies are about backing Australians who work hard, pay tax and want a fair go.
Australia is worth fighting for, and we’re ready to take the fight to Labor.
