John: Not long ago, I questioned Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in a House Armed Services Committee hearing. 

As expected, he evaded every question I asked him – from how long this war will last to how much money is coming out of the pocket of the American taxpayer to pay for a war they had absolutely no say in. 

We're in a war of choice right now with no clear objectives or ending. And I know firsthand that our community – the people I represent – do not want this. In fact, every time Secretary Hegseth and President Trump share images or threaten the annihilation of an entire civilization, my phone starts ringing “off the hook” with constituents who are concerned and alarmed by the comments from our so-called "leaders." 

Secretary Hegseth should be focusing on bringing this war of choice to an end, not on scoring political points with his audience of one – President Trump. His responsibility is to our nation and our troops, full stop.

As a third-generation veteran, I took an oath to uphold and defend this country – which is why I'm fighting day after day against Hegseth's reckless and dangerous agenda, and I'm continuing to call for his resignation. But I can't do this without you.
