For far too many people – especially Gen Zers like me – owning a car is too damn expensive. And things have only gotten worse since Trump and House Republicans started making the price of gas, car insurance, and literally everything else skyrocket.

That’s part of why Americans took over 8.1 billion trips on public transit in 2025, almost half a billion more than the year before.

But right now, public transit services aren’t meeting the demand. Across the country (including in Florida), public transit is often slow, late, and unreliable.

When a bus doesn’t show up or is hours late, that’s someone missing work, a class, or a doctor’s appointment. I refuse to accept that’s “just how it is” – so I’m doing something about it.

I introduced the Faster Buses Better Futures Act ([link removed]) , which would give money to local transit agencies that are doing their jobs right: making your commute as quick, easy, and safe as possible.

Better buses reduce traffic congestion, improve our daily commutes, and even provide better air quality with less emissions from cars. Simply put, when buses work better, everybody wins.

But we know that progress like this doesn’t happen without a fight.

Powerful special interests are standing in the way of bold transit policy, and they don’t want people like me (who dare to actually fight for our basic needs) challenging them in Congress.
