Good afternoon friends,
Today I am reaching out with an important policy rather than campaign ask.
On Wednesday, May 20 at 4:00 PM, the County will be holding a hearing on an ordinance to protect our immigrant communities from illegal and dangerous federal immigration enforcement -- and we need your voice there.
My parents came to America as refugees, and I am proud to sponsor this ordinance because I know firsthand that how much this moment means to members of our community who are living with fear and uncertainty right now. But for many people, this issue can still feel distant or abstract. That is why it is so important for Cape Codders to show up and advocate on behalf of our neighbors.
The ordinance on the table would do four concrete things:
1. Ban ICE from non-public areas of county property, including courthouses
2. Prohibit the use of county facilities as staging areas for immigration enforcement
3. Protect Cape Codders' personal information
4. Establish reporting requirements to ensure transparency around any enforcement activity on county property
The meeting is hybrid at 4PM on Wednesday, May 20. Join us in person at the Mary Pat Flynn Meeting Room, 3195 Main St, Barnstable, or virtually at

Please come if you can, and please share this with anyone who should be there.
Thank you,
Dan Gessen
