John, when you lose an election, you leave office (or you never take it in the first place).

That is how democracy works.

But Republicans have a different playbook: If they lose, they try to throw out votes, rewrite the rules, or cancel the results.

We saw it in North Carolina, when Republicans tried to overturn Justice Allison Riggs’ win because they did not like the outcome.

That is not just being a sore loser — that's attacking the foundations of the democratic process.

Now they are trying it again in Georgia.

Georgia Supreme Court Justice Sarah Warren is on the ballot against Jen Jordan on May 19. And when Warren was asked whether she would rule out using a legal loophole to let Republicans nullify the results if she loses, she refused to answer.

If Sarah Warren loses, Jen Jordan should take office.
