Tonight’s the night: the Democratic National Convention (DNC) is finally here! 

This week, we’re excited to hear from a broad range of speakers who are on Team Biden -- especially our VP candidate, Senator Kamala Harris!

There’s a lot to look forward to during the DNC, but we’re laser focused: Windivisible! 

All eyes are on the DNC this week, and people all over the country will be feeling inspired to defeat Trump in November. We want to welcome those folks into our movement, so we’re hosting our second Windivisible Week of Action during the DNC -- starting today, August 17 and running through August 23. Indivisible groups will be working all week to phonebank and textbank to get connected with the voters we need to win.

While we wish we could focus on enjoying the DNC and contacting voters to make this Windivisible Week of Action a success, we can’t rest when our democratic processes have come under threat. During this once in a century pandemic, a healthy Postal Service is the only way to keep voting safe and fair for everyone. Trump knows this, and is holding the Postal Service hostage for his own political gain by refusing to fund this critical service and making it as difficult as possible for people to vote-by-mail. 

This is a direct attack to our democracy and we have to be ready to respond. Call your Representative TODAY and tell them to save the Postal Service by supporting the Delivering for America Act. This urgent piece of legislation would maintain normal service standards as well as the integrity of our elections and bedrock democratic principles. The House is back to vote this week, so we need to work fast. Then remember: request and return your ballots as early as possible to make sure your vote gets counted. And, because he’s already said he might not, pledge to Protect the Results if Trump refuses to honor the outcome of the election.

 Your 5 weekly to-dos 

1. URGENT: Call your Representative and tell them to save the Postal Service by supporting the the Delivering for America Act. The House comes back from recess to vote on this bill this week. We can’t stay silent on this issue because, without a well-functioning USPS, we can’t vote by mail ahead of November 3. Trump and the GOP are prepared to let the Postal Service fail if it means they get to keep power -- this bill tells them we won’t stand for it.
2. Record a video about why the Postal Service is important to you and why your representative should cosponsor the Delivering for America Act. Many Americans depend on mail to meet their basic needs like the delivery of their medication or their Social Security checks. Trump wants to make the Postal Service a partisan issue so he can block mail-in voting all-together, leaving all Americans at a disadvantage. Tell us your story to help strengthen our mission.
3. Volunteer to phonebank for the Windivisible campaign to defeat Trump, take back the Senate, and keep the House. By signing up to phonebank you can talk to voters directly and drive turnout in November. After four years of fighting the Trump agenda, this is our moment to win big -- our democracy depends on it!
4. Call your Senators to demand they pass the Heroes Act with $25 billion in USPS funding and $3.6 billion in election funding. We cannot let Trump defund Social Security and steal our elections. Congress must act NOW and pass the Heroes Act without watering it down. 5. Get ready for the Democratic National Convention by watching our latest episode of Indivisible Weekly.  In this episode, Pablo kicks-off our Week of Action by telling you everything you can expect from the DNC. Good news: we’ll be sharing a video every day of the DNC to make sure you don’t miss a thing!

 2020 Update 

Trump is feeling the pressure and has been working to sabotage our elections for a while. And he has help: Postmaster General and Republican mega-donor Louis DeJoy ordered a series of changes that slow mail processing and delivery. By doing everything he can to make sure Americans won’t get their ballots in time, Trump has demonstrated that he won’t go down without an unfair fight. 

Oh, yeah, and we should probably mention that Trump just requested mail-in ballots for himself and Melania. 

In the midst of the global pandemic, it’s never been more crucial for everyone to have the tools they need to vote safely come November 3. To start, make sure you call your Representative and tell them to support the Delivering for America Act to save the Postal Service. Then, grab your mask and head to your local post office for #SaveThePostOffice on Saturday, August 22 at 11am (local time) to join us, MoveOn, and more partners in our fight for safe elections.
