John,
Washingtonians deserve clean air, a healthy environment, and energy we can afford.
But right now, Trump's Department of Energy is forcing the last coal plant in Washington to remain on standby - a shortsighted order that has racked up $20 million in costs since December based on a recent filing from TransAlta, the plant's owner.
Despite the fact that the plant hasn't generated any energy since December, this huge, ridiculous cost is being passed to regional energy suppliers. That means Washington families could end up paying more for dirty energy we don't want.
We joined a coalition of environmental groups to challenge the illegal order in court. We’re gearing up for a long, hard fight to protect clean air and defend our progress. We cannot do this work alone. Pitch in $5, $10, or any amount to help us win this fight and shut down a dying, dirty, coal plant for good. [[link removed]]

We cannot afford to keep coal alive - for the sake of our lungs, our children, and our wallets.
Coal does not belong in Washington. Help us shut it down for good. [[link removed]]
Thank you for all that you do,
