Texas Agencies to Announce Updates to Texas Driving with Disability Program

The Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities (GCPD), in partnership with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), will host a statewide webinar highlighting important updates to the Texas Driving with Disability Program and newly redesigned Texas driver licenses and identification cards.

During the webinar, DPS will announce accessibility-focused changes to Texas-issued identification cards, including the new front-centered placement of “Communication Impediment” and the addition of a “Deaf/Hard of Hearing” designation option. State agencies will also provide guidance on how Texans can enroll in the Driving with Disability Program and access related resources designed to improve communication and safety during traffic stops and roadside interactions.

The webinar will include presentations from state agency representatives and will be streamed live on Zoom.
