Folks,
These recent quotes from my far-right opponent pushing dangerous misinformation could have just as easily come from the mouth of President Trump himself:
“Conservative crusader” Jeanne Ives’ repeated use of her platform to spread falsehoods about the coronavirus is a threat to the health and safety of our students and their families, our teachers, and our communities.
We need leaders who will make decisions based on the facts, not what will earn them political points -- chip in to our people-powered campaign so that we can fight back against anti-science extremism in IL-06 >>
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, over 380,000 children have tested positive for COVID-19 since the onset of the pandemic. And while children represent just 9.1% of all US cases so far, there was a 90% increase in childhood cases -- with 179,990 new cases reported between July 9th and August 6th alone.
Additionally, a recent CDC study found that children between the ages of 10 and 19 can spread the virus just as easily as adults -- with the study’s authors warning that the number of new infections transmitted by children may rise when schools reopen.
Research is ongoing -- but one thing is clear: our children are not immune from this virus. For the sake of all children, we can’t allow Ives and her anti-science agenda to make it to Washington -- so today, will you chip in to support my re-election campaign so that we can defend our district and our values?
Ives’ reckless attempts to downplay the risks of the virus to further a political agenda aren’t harmless -- and we won’t let them go unchecked.
Let’s take a stand for the facts,
Sean Casten
