John – it’s Marc Elias. I know I just reached out, but this is an emergency: The Supreme Court is gutting the Voting Rights Act.

In last month's 6-3 decision, they kneecapped the VRA, the landmark civil rights law that restricted racial gerrymandering and racial discrimination in voting for sixty years.

Republicans across the country are celebrating this decision, as they prepare to dismantle Democratic districts across the South – taking away minority voices and paving the way for some of the worst gerrymandering in history.

Justice Elena Kagan even called this ruling the “latest chapter in the majority’s now-completed demolition of the Voting Rights Act.”

History is defined by how we react in critical moments like these, and I’m reaching out to tell you, John: I’m not backing down.

I’m standing alongside the DGA to fight back and elect Democratic governors all across the country – because taking away the GOP’s power is the best way to fight this. But we can’t do it alone.
