Dear John,
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and this year, we’re recognizing Sen. Mazie Hirono [[link removed]] and Rep. Pramila Jayapal [[link removed]] . Both lawmakers have been strong and consistent champions for immigrant families and the sponsors of the landmark LIFT the BAR Act, which aims to improve health and social services for millions in immigrant families. Join us this month in honoring their leadership.

Those of you based in or near Washington, DC are invited to join Popular Democracy and other national organizations on May 20 in a march and rally opposing Congress stripping care from working families to fund the agencies destroying our communities. USCIS Proposes Public Benefits Questions on Change of Address Form
Last week, the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service posted a Paperwork Reduction Act Notice in the Federal Register that proposes to add public benefit questions to its change of address form. People required to register with USCIS under the Trump immigrant registration requirement must file this change of address form (AR-11) within 10 days of moving. The proposal would add questions about use of public benefits, and also require non-citizens to report their work and school addresses.
The notice says info will be used to enforce immigration laws including the public charge ground of deportation under INA S 1227(a)(5). It may also be used to identify people who may be using means-tested benefits in violation of the restrictions on eligibility. Comments are due July 6. See the PIF explainer [[link removed]] and the tracker entry [[link removed]] on this proposal.
