Jack, we’re nearing the middle of the month and are once again behind on our
fundraising goal. We are falling short—for a small, reader-funded newsroom like
Daily Kos, that’s a serious problem.

Please chip in $5 right now to help us close the gap. We’re behind this
year—but we can start catching up today, with your help.

P.S. If you didn’t see our earlier message, it explains why this is so urgent:

Jack, I’m writing with a message we don’t send lightly: Daily Kos is in real
financial trouble.

The work we do together—mobilizing voters, holding powerful people
accountable, and building progressive infrastructure—is more important than
ever. But the truth is, our current funding level won’t sustain what 2026
demands.

Here’s why our budget has to grow this year, not shrink:

* Get Out the Vote efforts:
2026 is a major midterm election year. Reaching, training, and turning out
voters—especially in battleground states—requires significant upfront
investment. Cutting back now would mean fewer voters reached when it matters
most.
* Continued accountability coverage:
Our community depends on Daily Kos for deep, independent reporting that holds
elected officials and institutions accountable. That work takes time,
expertise, and resources—and it’s exactly the kind of journalism that
disappears first when budgets are slashed.
* A new website:
Our infrastructure was aging and increasingly expensive to maintain. We
invested in a modern, faster, more secure website that can better serve our
readers, organizers, and donors—and position us for the future instead of
constantly patching the past.
We don’t want to scale back our mission. We want to meet this moment. But we
can’t do it without you.

We need your help now. Can you make a donation today to keep Daily Kos strong,
independent, and fully funded for the critical work ahead? A contribution of
$5, $10—even just a couple of dollars—helps support voter turnout,
accountability journalism, and the infrastructure we need to fight and win in
2026.
