John,  When I was elected governor, Oklahomans knew what Democrats still know - progress isn't partisan. We focused on improving education because we knew investing in schools is investing in the future. We increased public school funding by 38% in four years. We prioritized addressing diversity and inclusion in hopes of creating a more just state. Half of my cabinet was represented by women and persons of color. I will never forget appointing Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher, who was denied admission to OU because of her race, to the OU Board of Regents along with another distinguished African American attorney Melvin Hall…. on the same day.   I have spent all my life in Oklahoma - serving in office and now running a business while also representing Oklahoma Democrats on the Democratic National Committee and it's Executive Committee. It is painful to see how Oklahoma continues to fall further behind.  We are facing a relentless attack on rural Oklahoma. Farmers, healthcare, education - every day we hear about the Republican Senate majority’s plots and plans to deconstruct the progress our country has made. Everyday we hear about our Republican leadership falling in lock step with the national catastrophe who are the Trump Republicans.Oklahoma Farmers are being left behind because of a PR stunt effort to start a trade war; allowing our food chain to be monopolized by foreign interests who are crushing our farmers and ranchers while the monopolies rake in massive profits. All Democrats - rural, small town and urban - need to lean in and become active advocates for rural Oklahoma families and businesses. Not only will we help those who don’t live in our cities to achieve a higher quality of life, but we will achieve more policy influence to move policies that affect all of our lives.   Drew Edmondson was a model public servant and would have made a great Governor.  We all worked hard in 2018 to elect him and almost crossed the finish line. We all did elect Congresswoman Horn, and we have to re-elect her. But lets get her some company! I am committed to work even harder this year to see that Congresswoman Horn retains her office and Abby Broyles becomes our next United States Senator. These headline races will drive turnout, and it will help all of our candidates down ballot.   Rhonda and I have given, and I am challenging you to donate today to your 2020 Oklahoma Democratic Party coordinated campaign so we can see Democrats win up and down the ballot. This is no longer about victory and influence over public policy.  This is about our lives.  Please contribute today. You know how urgent this is.

Thank you. Let's win this thing!

Respectfully,
Governor David Walters
