In a major upset, they flipped a Trump +11 district that includes Mar-a-Lago. National forecasters have quietly downgraded Florida from "Safe Republican," and in the last nine special elections nationwide, Democrats ran an average of 17 points higher than Kamala Harris.
They smell political blood.
Make no mistake. This race for Marco Rubio's former Senate seat is a special election – and special elections are unpredictable by nature. The normal rules don't apply. Turnout is volatile, outside money pours in fast, and a motivated opposition can flip a race that looks safe on paper. Democrats know this better than anyone.
