Hi John,

As families across the world are struggling to pay for energy and food, finance ministers of the world's seven wealthiest nations (the G7) are preparing to meet in Paris.

Taxing soaring fossil fuel profits and ending their subsidies is something these leaders can do overnight.1 But resolving this affordability crisis is shockingly not on their agenda. Yet.

France currently holds the Presidency of the G7, and the French Finance Minister, Roland Lescure, is responsible for setting the agenda of this meeting.

Lescure is extremely active on social media and pays close attention to his comments. We have a short window of time to urge him to include these critical solutions in the meeting’s agenda now.

John, do you have a few minutes to add a comment on his posts on social media?

If you don't use social media, please forward this email to five friends or family members who do!

You can choose your preferred platform, pick a pre-written comment, or write your own message for a bigger impact.

The fossil fuel companies that are reaping the benefits of this crisis, like Total, Shell and Exxon, are sitting on billions in windfall profits. That money came from all of us paying higher prices.2

Permanent windfall taxes on those record profits could fund real relief: lower energy bills, support for people priced out of heating their homes, and an equitable shift away from the planet-wrecking fuels that are driving this crisis.

The G7 finance ministers have the power to move on this. And Lescure holds the keys. But only if he feels the pressure.

The meeting starts soon, and the agenda is being finalized now. Let’s flood his comments today to make sure our voices are not ignored.

Thousands of us have signed a petition calling on G7 countries to introduce permanent windfall taxes.3 This is the next step to increase the pressure.

Onwards,

Lisa and The Great Power Shift Team at 350.org

P.S. After the Finance Ministers Meeting, the G7 Summit follows in June. Everything we do now will help ensure progress at the main summit. Don't let this moment pass.
