2025-2026 Green Schools Celebrations

The Macomb County Board of Commissioners proudly celebrated local sustainability leaders this spring with two exciting Green Schools events. On April 22, nearly 100 teachers, school representatives, and administrators gathered at the Macomb Intermediate School District for the 18th annual Macomb County Green Schools Awards Ceremony, where Commissioners recognized outstanding environmental achievements across the county. The celebration continued on May 6 with a special tri-county event at the Detroit Zoo, hosted in partnership with Oakland and Wayne counties. More than 1,000 students and educators came together to honor Green Schools, hear inspiring remarks from local leaders, and enjoy a day of learning and exploration at the zoo—making it a memorable celebration of sustainability, collaboration, and community impact.
