[link removed] Because of the support of faithful partners like you, people in the toughest places on earth who are victims of disaster experienced the kindness of Jesus through humanitarian aid.The Bahamas Hurricane Dorian hit the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas on September 1, 2019. Unto™ partnered with Cru® campus ministry staff members and more than 44 college students and faculty and other volunteers from seven campuses to assist with disaster relief efforts for people in the Bahamas. As part of Unto’s Disaster Relief Initiative, these projects help provide credibility and access for our field partners, which increases the effectiveness of ministry to people in affected areas.Generous gifts enabled the Unto disaster relief team to distribute SHIFTPODS to 249 families. These pods are sturdy tents with microfiber
insulation that served as temporary housing for more than 500 Bahamians. In the aftermath of the storm, our disaster response team partnered with three local churches who opened their facilities as shelters and supply distribution points. Six months later our volunteer teams helped rebuild a local school and church as well as clean up storm damage and debris that remained in over 30 peoples’ homes. Zimbabwe Cyclone Idai was one of the worst tropical cyclones on record in the Southern Hemisphere. Long after news coverage of the disaster ended, many people who lost their homes still lived in tents and were forced to drink from contaminated water sources. Although it may seem as if the people affected have been forgotten, your gifts continue to help care for the people of Zimbabwe.Unto local field partners distributed water filters in communities where water sanitation was most needed. Our team also distributed food and clothing to families who lost almost everything. Gogo Muzondiwa
