John,
I had the honor of speaking with Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine last week during Victory Institute’s Facebook Live event. If you missed our conversation, here’s a quick update (and you can watch it here):

Despite taking a pragmatic and measured approach to the COVID-19 pandemic, an approach that has saved the lives of countless Pennsylvanians, Dr. Levine has faced wave after wave of transphobic attacks. The latest comes from Jenna Ellis, a member of the Trump Administration, who crassly tweeted “This guy is making decisions about your health.”
I can’t even say I’m surprised. From stripping away the rights of trans military members to backing legislation that harms trans kids to this latest attack on Dr. Levine, the Trump Administration shows that they’re more interested in taking cheap shots at the trans community than promoting basic human dignity.
Dr. Levine has responded to these attacks with grace and poise, calling for better understanding of LGBTQ issues and deeper discussions around trans issues. But it’s on us to take it one step further: supporting organizations, like Victory Institute, that train and support trans leaders. Support Victory Institute today!
Victory Institute is proud to have programs that work to ensure that LGBTQ representation resembles all LGBTQ people. Their Victory Empowerment Fellowship helps LGBTQ leaders of color and/or transgender leaders looking to expand their political skills, run for public office and make essential connections with LGBTQ leaders. But it runs on the power of donors like you – chip in today!
Donald Trump and his cronies won’t be the last crop of bigots to attack an amazing trans appointee or LGBTQ elected official. There’s probably someone doing it as you read this note! But together, we can hold them accountable – and stand with members of the trans community like Dr. Levine as they fight to change the world.
Donate today.
Thanks again for standing with Dr. Levine and me,
Brian Sims
