Held at the John L. Barry Police Headquarters, the annual memorial serves as a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and commitment shown by Suffolk County’s finest. “As we approach National Police Week, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives protecting our communities,” said Andrew. “These heroes made the ultimate sacrifice, and their service will never be forgotten. I remain grateful to all members of law enforcement who continue to serve our communities with courage, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to keeping Long Island safe.” ANDREW IN THE NEWS Homeland Republicans Applaud End of Democrat DHS Shutdown; Move to Fully Fund the Department WASHINGTON, D.C. –– This week, House Committee on Homeland Security Republicans applauded President Trump signing into law H.R.7147, legislation that funds the majority of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for Fiscal Year 2026 and ends Congressional Democrats’ forced shutdown of the Department. Committee leaders expressed their continued support and appreciation to all DHS employees who continued their critical work to keep their fellow Americans safe despite facing months of financial pain and uncertainty caused by Democrats’ political games: House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Andrew R. Garbarino (R-NY) said: “For 76 days, Congressional Democrats forced a shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security as we face evolving threats both at home and abroad. As Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, I’m glad that we fully funded TSA, FEMA, CISA, the Coast Guard, the Secret Service, and other vital components so the men and women on the front lines can get back to focusing on their mission. Happy Mother's Day With Mother’s Day this weekend, Andrew is recognizing all of the incredible moms, grandmothers, and mother figures across Long Island who give so much to their families and communities every single day. “On Mother’s Day, we celebrate the women who raised us, supported us, and shaped who we are,” said Andrew. “I’m especially grateful for my own mom and everything she’s done for me over the years. Casework Highlight: Delivering Quick Results for Long Islanders When a Bohemia resident reached out after months of trying to have old service wires removed from their home, Andrew’s office got to work. After following up directly with Optimum and escalating the issue with their team, crews visited the home and safely removed the unused wires that had become a concern. The constituent was thrilled to finally have the issue resolved. Helping constituents navigate federal agencies is one of the most important services our office provides.
