Friends: With the most critical elections of our lifetime right around the corner, nothing is more important than protecting voting rights against the GOP's widespread voter suppression tactics.
After the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act in 2013, the GOP has steadily chipped away at the right to vote here in Pennsylvania and across the country with strict voter ID laws, purged voter rolls, and shut-down polling stations. It's all part of a shameless strategy to silence millions of voters at the ballot box – especially voters of color.
Chrissy knows that our democracy doesn't work unless the right to vote is protected for EVERY American. That's why she was proud to help pass the Voting Rights Advancement Act through the House last year, and why she is calling on Congress to restore the Voting Rights Act immediately.
Today, the first day of the Democratic Convention, marks the beginning of the final sprint to Election Day – making this fight more urgent than ever.
