MCRGO Marketing Campaign
Earlier this month, MCRGO began the largest marketing campaign in the organization's
history. The campaign was first conceptualized by our members at the 2019 Annual
Meeting. The MCRGO Board of Directors approved a budget for the campaign at its
June regular meeting. The core of the campaign is the phrase "Every Person," which
is derived from Article 1, ยง 6 of the Michigan Constitution of 1963.
The primary goal of the campaign is to increase MCRGO's brand recognition with the
general public in Michigan. Its secondary goals are to direct students to MCRGO
CPL classes, increase the diversity of MCRGO members, and recruit new MCRGO instructors.
MCRGO has historically worked behind the scenes and has not been self-promoting.
With the development of a training program, increased marketing has become necessary.
MCRGO has expanded dramatically in size from 3,000 members five years ago to 14,000
current paid members today. The marketing campaign is an investment in the organization's
continued future growth and mission.
MCRGO will be running paid ads on Facebook and Instagram through the remainder of
2020. A new ad will appear each month. The ads will hyperlink to MCRGO's home page.
A link has been added to the home page that explains in detail how a person can
find a MCRGO CPL class, obtain their CPL, join the organization, and become a MCRGO
CPL instructor.

Wayne County CPL Renewal
Wayne County, Michigan's most populous county, was one of the first to re-open on
an appointment basis this spring. During the month of June, we were getting reports
of speedy service for new CPL applications and renewals there. That has not being
the case in July and August. Michigan is currently experiencing unprecedented demand
for CPL classes and applications. MCRGO instructors are training four times the
number of students they typically do in the summer. Many have classes fully booked
through the fall.
Wayne County is similarly overwhelmed right now. We recommend that you do not attempt
to call the Wayne County Clerk's office. Instead, use the eScheduler [[link removed]]
to make an appointment paying close attention to the instructions on its website.
If you have a question about another county, please call your elected county clerk
and/or elected county commissioner. Almost all counties in the state are now accepting
CPL applications. The majority including Kalamazoo, Kent, Macomb, and Oakland are
on an appointment only basis (no walk-ins). Do to very high demand for new CPLs,
if you received a PIN and have the ability to renew online, please do so online
to avoid taking an appointment slot from a new applicant. Renew early rather than
waiting several weeks before your CPL expires. Even if you did not receive a PIN,
you can renew directly with the Michigan State Police as instructed HERE [[link removed]].
