In another devastating blow to our democracy, the Supreme Court has gutted the Voting Rights Act and made it easier to disenfranchise voters across the country.

Politico: A long-held goal of the conservative legal movement came to fruition on Wednesday: The gutting of the Voting Rights Act.

Flip the House Blue! ([link removed])

“The Supreme Court’s 6-3 decision in Louisiana v. Callais, a case challenging the drawing of a second majority-Black district in the state, left the landmark civil rights law on the books. But the racial protections in the law were so dramatically weakened as to render them effectively useless.”

Signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965, the Voting Rights Act sought to end racial discrimination at the polls and has been one of the most essential, effective laws ever enacted.

The bottom line is that this is an awful, partisan-minded decision that will ultimately weaken our democracy, undermine the voting power of entire communities, and sow mistrust in our elections.

It’s an absolute gut punch.

But Congress can restore the Voting Rights Act, and the first step to making that a reality is to flip the House in November. We simply cannot afford anything less.

Retaking the House won’t be easy, but it’s a crucial step in empowering Congress to restore voting protections. Will you please chip in $10 or $25 to defend this seat and help Democrats retake the House?
