Why is DNC Chair Ken Martin refusing to release the 2024 autopsy report?
In an interview on Pod Save America, he told Jon Favreau that “there is no smoking gun” in the report and that it would distract us from the next election.
If we don’t have the courage to hold ourselves accountable and release an autopsy report (which Ken Martin ran his DNC campaign on releasing), how are we going to convince voters that we are offering them anything new in 2026, or 2028 for that matter?
How can we expect to win by doing the same thing all over again?
In 2024, the message voters heard from Democrats was:
We know that you’re telling us that prices are too high. We know you’re worried that the President is too old.
But you’re wrong. We told those voters over and over and over again, with the force of several billion dollars behind it, not to believe their eyes or their wallets.
If we can’t have the level of accountability necessary to handle the release of an autopsy report, I don’t know what there is to be said about the future of the Democratic Party. But I do know it’s not going to be productive for the American people for us to continue to run negative campaigns every cycle about what we’re not — instead of who we are and what we will fight for.
