Texas was one of the first states to ban DEI in its public universities. But that doesn’t seem to matter since DEI remains deeply embedded in the university’s daily operations.


An Accuracy in Media undercover investigator spoke with Gloria Martinez-Ramos, director of the Center for Diversity and Gender Studies at Texas State University. In the video, she walks our investigator through how her office adjusted language after the ban -- but only minimally.


“Just a little of the language has changed but not a whole lot,” she says.


She goes on to explain, “There’s these laws that passed but in terms of academics, we still have academic freedom…”


In other words, the law exists. They just don’t believe it applies to them.


This isn’t just one rogue employee trying to skirt the rules. Martinez-Ramos makes it clear that the system is protecting itself.


“The good thing is that the dean supports us. The president too.”

This is what universities do: They comply where they legally have to, and then find ways to continue their destructive DEI practices and principles without drawing attention.


In the words of Martinez-Ramos, “Just keep it quiet, we just kinda know.”

This didn’t happen overnight. DEI became entrenched in higher education over decades, and it’s not going away on its own.
