May 2026 Newsletter
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
This May, we celebrate the next generation of changemakers. I want to take a moment to congratulate the class of 2026 on their graduation; your voice matters, and you are the future leaders this world needs. Times are challenging, but you have the power to shape a path forward that is brighter and more inclusive.
Across the peace and security field, there is still a gap that must be filled by individuals willing to push boundaries, challenge exclusion, and claim space in rooms where diversity has too often been absent. This moment calls for leadership that is not only present, but intentional.
As we look ahead, we remain committed to supporting this next generation as they shape a future where unity, peace, and inclusion of women are not just aspirations, but realities. At WIIS, we will continue building a community that not only uplifts women, but ensures they are empowered to lead, influence decision-making, and redefine what leadership looks like across the peace and security field. To the Class of 2026, we see you and we want you in our community. Join WIIS today and enjoy 15% off a Young Professional membership as you take your first steps into the field.
Thank you for being part of this effort.
Warm regards,
Dr. Lauren Van Metre
