WATERVILLE- May 8, 2026 - Starting on May 26th, 2026, at 12AM, through June 29th, 2026, at 6 AM, MaineDOT will be closing the Ticonic Bridge to all traffic for construction activities requiring access to the entire bridge.

During this time, pedestrians will NOT be allowed to transit the bridge.

During this closure, vehicle traffic will be detoured south to the Carter Memorial Bridge. Pedestrian traffic will be detoured north to the Two Cent Bridge.

Pedestrians and vehicles will be required to follow the posted detour routes.

Message boards will be used to warn drivers of the closure. On June 29th, the bridge will reopen to both eastbound and westbound vehicle traffic. Single lane closures and nightly full closures may be required throughout the summer and fall to complete construction of the new bridge.

The contractor on this project is Cianbro Corporation. The contract amount is $52,800,000.
