Dear Neighbor,
I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Bill, since
1966; and I know he truly has a servant’s heart.
My husband has a genuine desire to serve our communities and
fight for our shared values. He is personally committed to making
the Space and Treasure Coasts the best places to work and live.
Time after time, he has rolled up his sleeves to get the job done
for us, like working across the aisle to form the Congressional
Estuary Caucus to help ensure funding to clean up our lagoon, and
reauthorize important algae bloom research projects.
He has always been an honest and reliable leader – which is a
crucial trait for our representatives to have – we don’t see
enough of that these days. Bill is also committed to making sure
government works for us, the people. In fact, he cut his own
Congressional office budget by nearly $1 million, refuses the
Congressional pay increase passed before he took office, and has
worked to hold lobbyists accountable in Washington. A Washington
newspaper even nicknamed him “Mr. Accountability.” He leads by
example.
For Bill, people matter, not profit.
Our communities are important to us. It is where we went to
school, married, chose to start our business and raise our
family. Every day, he fights to make our country and communities
better. I have never known a more dedicated hard worker. I admit
to wondering how he manages to stay so strong in what has become
a very toxic political environment. In recent weeks attacks on
his personal character and integrity have been particularly
dishonest and hurtful. But he says the future of America is worth
it, and he reminds me that our challenges pale compared to those
of our nation’s founders and our current military families.
I always thought it was important for candidates to have
demonstrated the willingness and ability to serve their
communities BEFORE they seek election. Here are a few of the ways
Bill has served our communities long before asking anyone to
elect him to Congress:
* Kiwanis Club (President & Legion of Honor)
* High School Advisory Committee, Academic Club, Vocational
Advisory Committee, Quarterback Club (12th Man Award)
* Middle School Advisory Committee
* Elementary School PTA & Advisory Committees
* Civic Association (LPCA President)
* Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100
* County School Board Instructional Materials Committee
* Community College Better Government Study Committee
* County Volunteer Deputy Registrar
* Department of Education County Relations Advisory Committee
* County Mental Health Association
* Keep Brevard Beautiful
* Civilian-Military Relations Council
* American Cancer Society (Director)
* United Methodist Church Trustee, Pastor-Parrish Relations
Committee (Chairman), Methodist Youth Fellowship (Leader), United
Methodist Men (President)
* Miss Softball (coach) and Little League (Coach)
* Financial sponsor of over 100 teams, leagues or other youth
programs
This is a small glimpse of what I have seen throughout our over
50 years of marriage – this is the servant’s heart that he has
brought serving those who call the Space and Treasure Coasts
home.
This election, I humbly ask for you to support my husband,
Congressman Bill Posey, so he can continue to fight for us in
Washington.
Warmest Regards,
Katie Posey
