In January, President Trump expressed regret ([link removed]) that he did not send in the National Guard to seize voting machines following the 2020 presidential election. Within weeks, the federal government seized control ([link removed]) of Fulton County Georgia’s 2020 election records. Then in March, Steve Bannon said that deploying ICE agents ([link removed]) to airports is “perfect training for the fall of 2026.”

It’s clear that states will face real threats to election security during the upcoming midterms. But lawmakers across the country have the opportunity to safeguard their constituents’ voting rights and take action to protect against authoritarian attempts to overturn elections.
