Every transit system in PA is in danger, with paratransit and small systems facing the most urgent funding crises. 

Though our systems may look different across the state, we all share the same pot of money—and that pot is nearly empty. That's why Transit for All PA! is heading to Harrisburg on June 3rd: so that members like you, from all over PA, can educate legislators on the crisis and advocate for a solution. 

This year, everyone who attends the Harrisburg Day of Action must attend a training. Lucky for you, this month's all-member meeting is one of those trainings!

If you can't make this meeting, but you want to come to Harrisburg, you can attend another training on May 20th. If you already attended the April 29th statewide call, you've already received this training and don't need to attend this one (but you're welcome to join for other local updates!)

That's right: the biggest day of the year for PA transit advocates is approaching, and now is your chance to join! 

If you'd like the opportunity to meet transit riders and workers from every corner of PA, hear inspiring testimony, and educate legislators on the crises facing transit systems in our state, RSVP to our June 3rd Day of Action!

Participants will drive up to Harrisburg together early in the morning, get inspired at a rally by the Capitol fountain, share lunch, and spend the rest of the day educating legislators and their staff on the transit crisis. 

Spots are limited to 40 participants from the Pittsburgh region, so reserve your place now!

(Note: there are separate RSVP forms for folks joining from other areas--check the event description if you're not based in Pittsburgh!)

Transit riders want more bus shelters and better bus stops—but we can't have them if the sidewalks are in bad condition (or don't exist)! Join PPT members in surveying sidewalks across the City, so that the City can identify which ones need improvements. 

The goal is to collect information for every sidewalk (or lack thereof) in Pittsburgh, and we need your help to do it! Join the first audit of 2026, on Saturday, May 16th in Sheraden.

Participants will need a charged cell phone that can reach the internet survey, and take photos. Come dressed for the elements in good walking shoes, and plan to be outside for about an hour.

This is the first step to ensuring that the bus stops in most need get the amenities riders deserve. If you want to help make better bus stops a reality, RSVP for the May 16th audit!

If you ride PRT, there's a very good chance that your routes could change under the proposed Bus Line Refresh. PRT is holding feedback events throughout the month of May to make sure you get a chance to share your thoughts on the changes. 

PRT is having a board meeting on Friday, May 29th, and they need to hear what you think about the Bus Line Refresh. Join other transit riders and advocates for a press conference, then head to the board meeting to share your feedback with PRT directly.

If you can't make the board meeting, PRT is hosting many public meetings on the Refresh throughout the month of May:

This could be the biggest service change in a generation—don't miss your chance to tell PRT what works, and what needs to be improved! Be sure to also check out what local advocates are saying, like these two articles from the Hazelwood Initiative on the potential impacts on critical connections.

When hundreds of thousands of visitors headed to Pittsburgh last weekend for the NFL draft, many of them chose to take transit instead of driving for hours, struggling to find parking, and paying exorbitant rates. 

Instead, they utilized free T fares and frequent, comfortable park-and-ride buses set up for the event. And Draft employees, PRT officials, and local journalists are ready to call it a success! Traffic across the region remained low, and parking rates even dropped throughout the weekend to make up for the decreased demand. 

What can transit advocates learn from the Draft? That free fares and reliable, fast service drive ridership—lessons that PRT can take into upcoming budget fights at the state level.
