Email from Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty WILL Documentary, "Classrooms in Crisis," Sheds Light on Dangerous Reality Teachers Face In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, WILL unveiled a new documentary, “Classrooms in Crisis.” Over the last several months, WILL interviewed dozens of Wisconsin educators about what they experience every day inside public-school classrooms. Their stories were not just heartbreaking, but incredibly similar. Again and again, teachers described a culture of inconsistent discipline and a lack of administrative support when students become persistently disruptive or violent. WILL hopes telling the stories of these teachers will raise awareness of classroom behavior and encourage school boards to implement common sense solutions. Watch the documentary below. WILL Sues to Stop Identity-Based Quotas & Forced Unionization in NJ Construction WILL, alongside the Pacific Legal Foundation (PLF) filed a federal lawsuit against the New Jersey Turnpike Authority (NJTA), Ocean County and Evesham Township on behalf of Earle Asphalt Company, New Jersey’s leading highway contracting firm. For nearly six decades, Earle has built New Jersey’s statewide infrastructure on merit and free choice. That model is now under attack. The lawsuit challenges New Jersey law which requires contractors to comply with “targeted goals” across 18 trades, forcing Earle to track and report employees by race and sex, subjecting them to fines, penalties, and lower contract ratings for noncompliance. The law also requires “open shop” firms like Earle to accept exclusive union representation, stripping workers of the right to choose their own representation and forcing Earle to associate with unions. WILL Deputy Counsel, Lucas Vebber, stated, “New Jersey is telling Earle Asphalt, a family company that’s been in business for over 60 years, how to do what they do best – build. Forcing a family business to hire union and then use racial quotas isn’t just unconstitutional; it’s an example of government intervention contributing to rising costs. We hope our lawsuit marks a new milestone in the fight for true merit and equality under the law.” Read More Analysis: How Property Taxes Could Skyrocket in 2030 In a guest analysis for The Heartland Post, WILL Research Director Will Flanders breaks down the staggering "Christmas list" of Liberal spending proposals that threaten Wisconsin taxpayers, including how the repeal of Act 10 and Governor Evers' 400-year veto create a "snowball effect" that taxpayers simply cannot afford. Flanders’ analysis shows that ending Act 10 could cost taxpayers an additional $2.1 billion, while the Governor’s partial veto allows revenue limits to snowball by an estimated $2,600 per student by 2030. These cumulative shifts would place a massive property tax burden on homeowners, potentially making homeownership unaffordable for many Wisconsinites and young families. The analysis also explains that despite the push for more school spending, a majority of parents believe education funding is already "enough" or "too much" when presented with the actual figures.
