🚨 BREAKING NEWS FROM OKLAHOMA 🚨
As we await the Supreme Court's decision in Louisiana v. FDA , which will determine whether mail and pharmacy access to mifepristone can continue while litigation proceeds, we have disastrous news out of Oklahoma to share.
Oklahoma lawmakers just passed HB 1168—a bill that criminalizes providing medication abortion as "drug trafficking"—and they did it in secret. [[link removed]]
Under this bill, even a parent could be convicted of a felony and thrown in jail for 10 years for helping their child get an abortion. This is a disgusting attempt to scare Oklahomans out of seeking abortion care and scare parents, friends, and providers away from helping them. [[link removed]]
The bill sat dormant for over a year. Then, without warning, without public notice, without giving senators a chance to respond, it cleared the Senate last week and is now headed to the Governor's desk.
FIGHT BACK NOW [[link removed]]
This dangerous bill would:
* Create a new felony crime called "trafficking an abortion-inducing drug"—punishable by up to 10 years in prison and $100,000 in fines
* Target anyone who delivers medication abortion with the intent to provide it to someone in Oklahoma
* Makes it a crime to even possess medication abortion if they can prove it was to help someone get an abortion
* Put patients at risk, with no explicit exemption for pregnant people themselves
This is not just about Oklahoma. It's part of a growing national strategy—with similar laws already enacted in Mississippi—to equate mailing medication abortion with "drug trafficking" and criminalize the networks that help people access care. [[link removed]] More states are watching. More states will follow.
Oklahoma politicians are so fixated on forcing people to have children that they are willing to tear families apart and throw parents in jail. These anti-abortion legislators are using backroom tactics to pass these laws without scrutiny. We cannot afford to be caught off guard. [[link removed]]

The Center is challenging coordinated attacks like this across the country, but stopping them takes sustained legal action. Your support powers the work we do to block these laws before they take hold—and before more states follow.
