These are the words of Karla Bueso, a mother who came with her husband and daughter to the United States 16 years ago at the invitation of doctors who were studying her daughter's rare genetic illness. But despite being allowed to stay in the US for nearly two decades, the Trump administration announced that Karla, her family, and others like them who have been allowed to stay in the country for humanitarian reasons, must leave voluntarily or risk deportation [[link removed]] . This change in policy shows a shocking lack of compassion, even for this administration, and will cost people their lives. As a community of New Americans and allies, we must stand against this administration's heartless decisions and put an end to Trump's anti-immigrant agenda.
