42,000 votes were already cast before the election was suspended. That’s 42,000 votes that MAGA is trying to erase. 42,000 voters that are currently very confused.
Congressional elections have been suspended but currently all the other elections on the ballot are scheduled to take place. Will those 42,000 votes be counted? Will those 42,000 people need to get new ballots and cast them again?
And that’s just the people who returned their ballots. There are hundreds of thousands of voters who have ballots or plan to vote on election day who currently have no idea what the hell is going on. Should they return their ballots? Throw them away? Will their polling location change?
This is blatant voter suppression.
The mass confusion could cause hundreds of thousands of Democratic voters to stay at home for critical elections—U.S. Senate, Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, Public Service Commission, and five proposed constitutional amendments.
That’s why the Louisiana Democratic Party has made the difficult decision to launch a massive, unprecedented voter information campaign. We need to cut through the mass confusion caused by MAGA’s dark experiment and get voters the information they need.
But frankly, as one of the most underfunded parties in the nation, we still lack the funds needed to reach the hundreds of thousands of voters caught in this mass confusion.
Thankfully, we've seen a massive surge of support from Democrats across the nation and we’re getting very close to securing the resources we need for this unprecedented operation. But we need more Democrats to step up today if we’re going to have the impact we need:
