The Brazilian Amazon is burning, with millions of acres destroyed by fires since the start of 2019. And now the world's largest temperate rain forest is also being threatened, as the Trump administration seeks to open up the Tongass National Forest to new and damaging logging.

Much like the Amazon, the Tongass is an essential carbon sink, absorbing and locking away massive amounts of CO2 released from burning fossil fuels. We need these vital ecosystems to remain intact as a buffer against the threat of a devastating climate crisis.

It's urgent that we protect rain forests to help stabilize our climate and safeguard the thousands of species that call them home. This fall, the U.S. Department of Agricultural is expected to release a formal proposal to roll back Roadless Rule protections under pressure from President Trump. Please keep your eye out for that announcement; we will need as many voices as possible opposing this dangerous plan.
