I didn’t take the easy path to Congress.
Like a lot of families in South Texas, mine believed in hard work and doing whatever it takes to get ahead. I worked my way through school, taking on jobs while earning my degrees — not because I wanted to build a résumé, but because that’s what it took.
Education opened doors for me. But it also taught me something just as important: opportunity shouldn’t depend on luck.
That belief has shaped every step of my career.

👉 As an educator, I worked with students who were trying to build better futures for themselves.
👉 As a small business owner, I saw how much determination it takes to succeed — and how government can either help or get in the way.
👉 And in public service, I’ve focused on making sure more families have a real shot at getting ahead.
That’s why I’ve fought to strengthen our schools, grow our local economy, and invest in the kinds of opportunities that change lives.
I’ve never been interested in the spotlight. I’ve been interested in the work.
And right now, with so much uncertainty and division, that kind of steady, focused leadership matters more than ever. If you believe in that approach — putting your head down, doing the work, and delivering results — I’m asking for your support. Please consider making a contribution today to help us keep this campaign strong. [[link removed]?]
