John,

Here in California, we’re not strangers to the catastrophic impacts of the climate crisis -- we live them every day.

As I write this email, yet another wildfire is threatening our beautiful natural landscapes: the Lake Fire. The reality is that wildfires will only grow more intense and severe unless we take immediate action to combat the climate crisis.

I’m writing today to remind you that it doesn’t have to be like this. That’s why I, along with my colleagues on the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, developed a blueprint for federal climate action and a transition to clean energy. If adopted, it would achieve net zero carbon pollution by 2050, a goal scientists say is necessary to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.

John, if you agree that we need a bold action on climate change, can I count on you to add your name in support of our plan? We need to act swiftly to protect our planet.

The climate crisis is the number one challenge of our time. Without immediate, aggressive action, the next generation will pay the price. And we already know climate change affects low income families and communities of color first and worst.

There are real solutions to this issue, solutions that stop the damage and also create jobs. Now is not the time to stay on the sidelines, which is why I need you to show your support for our plan:
