Today’s Supreme Court pause on the mifepristone by mail case is a win, but a temporary one.

This fight is far from over, so I’m sharing a brief explainer on how we got here, and what you can do right now.
Here’s what’s happened so far:
Last week, a federal appeals court ruled to end access to mifepristone prescriptions by mail, one of the most common pills used for medication abortion.
This medication is safe and effective. It was approved by the FDA 25 years ago — back when I was in middle school! And decades of research show that it’s a medication that saves lives.
But a Trump-packed, science-hating court thinks it knows more about your body than you and your health care providers do.
Today, in response to the lower court’s ruling, the Supreme Court temporarily restored nationwide access to mifepristone until at least next Monday.
Here’s where things stand now:
First, it’s important to know that people can still safely and legally access this medication. Doctors can prescribe it, pharmacies can fill the prescription, and patients can receive care.
But the reality is, this mifepristone case is the most serious threat to reproductive freedom since Roe v. Wade was overturned nearly four years ago.
We’ve already seen where this road leads. Trump packed the courts, Roe fell, and abortion bans spread across red states, bringing unnecessary pain, suffering, and death to women all across the country who are seeking safe health care options.
And here in Congress, MAGA Republicans keep trying to chip away at our rights with legislation to further restrict reproductive freedom.
Bottom line: we need to protect reproductive freedom at the federal level. And to do that, we need to flip the House in November.
