Last week, the Fifth Circuit sided with Louisiana and reinstated an outdated, medically unnecessary requirement that mifepristone be dispensed in person—threatening access by mail and at pharmacies nationwide. This morning, the Court temporarily agreed to stay the ruling until next Monday. But this fight is far from over. Medication abortion accounts for more than 60% of abortions in the U.S. each year. Since Roe was overturned, telehealth abortion requests have doubled. For people in rural areas—hours from the nearest clinic—it was a lifeline.
